What is Coaching?
Put simply, coaching is a process that aims to improve performance and focuses on the ‘here and now’ rather than the distant past or future.
In Relationship Coaching, do not consider the ‘coach as expert’ but, instead, the coach as a facilitator of learning.
Where did you learn how to have a relationship? It is complicated! Some people emulate the parent relationship, while others repel their family dynamics and go the opposite way, unresponsive and unwilling to consider anything that slightly resembles what they saw as a child. Some people search for that first love, however unhealthy it was, as their perfect love.
There is a huge difference between teaching someone and helping them to learn. In coaching, fundamentally, the coach is helping the individual to improve their own performance; or helping you learn.
Good coaches believe that the individual always has the answer to their own problems but understands that they may need help to find the answer.
Coaching is helping you discover why you have chosen the partners you have chosen; what the blocks or walls are preventing you from experiencing a healthy and happy relationship; why you repeat unhealthy cycles and habits in relationships; understanding the ‘patterns’ and learning to recognize them faster; understanding why you attract the same type of person again and again; and most importantly, coaching is helping you discover your potential for a loving and lasting relationship.
